What is my part in the PPC? [Parish Pastoral Council]
YES, you, along with all the registered members of Holy Family have a part in a successful PPC. The Council agenda is created by the pastor and the chairman of the Council. He/she can only submit items for the agenda if our parishioners give that information to him/her or another “at large” council member. All members are listed on the front of the bulletin. The items to be placed on the agenda must be “pastoral” in nature. Again, having to do with worship education and Christian service and out-reach. The Council does not handle Financial or Administrative issues.
Let me give you two examples: 1. The scheduling of a parish mission – if it does not come from the grassroots, that is you, the topic may not be addressed, or even promoting another Spiritual exercise; 2. Addressing the dilemma of promoting the Ladies Altar Society or the Men’s Club, and their charism and ministry in the parish. If you are not thinking about issues as these than they are not addressed and explored. A pastor can only be as effective as his PPC is actively engaged in the spiritual life and wellbeing of the parish family.
