News from Sacred Heart
Hello! It has been over a month since I have written! It has been a good, but very busy semester thus far! It has been so busy that I find myself already in mid-terms week. The great blessing after mid-terms week is a weekend get-away we call “Days of Recollection”. It is an awesome weekend away from the seminary (typically at some remote retreat center) where you spend time with your class and have time for individual prayer, reflection, relaxation and good fraternity. I had the unique opportunity to attend the Sistine Chapel Choir (the Pope’s choir) concert back in September. The choir made its first trip back to America in thirty years with stops in NYC, Detroit, and Washington D.C. The music was outstanding! Looking ahead, the whole seminary community gets to attend the Beatification Mass of Solanus Casey at Ford Field on November 18th. If you don’t know much of his story, I suggest doing some research. (Almost) Blessed Solanus Casey has a beautiful witness of joy and obedience, and it is humbling that the church officially recognizes this holy man who made such an impact right here in Detroit. In just about a month I will be home for thanksgiving and am very much anticipating it! I can only spend so much time in the Lower Peninsula J I continue to keep you in prayer in thanksgiving for all the ways you have been such blessing to me and look forward to my next visit home. -Christian
