Hello Everyone! It is hard to believe, but final exams are all done and I have already completed my second academic year of seminary! As I write this, I am both excited and anxious for my next adventure. This upcoming Sunday, May 7th I have the incredible opportunity to spend the next six weeks in Central America with my class. I will be spending the first four weeks at a convent in Antigua, Guatemala learning Spanish with a one-on-one instructor. Our daily schedule gives us both class time and time for recreation to visit different parts of the city and learn about their culture. The final two weeks my class will be going to Belize to do mission work. The exact details of what kind of work we will be doing has not been finalized since it changes from year to year. I am very excited about this opportunity, I haven’t flown out of the U.S. before J I will return back to the states on June 15th with great memories and…a little bit of Spanish! Please keep me and my class in your prayers for safe travels as you all can be assured of my prayers for all of you! Christian
I realize that I forgot to include something in my bulletin article last week. Thank you to all who participated in the pasty sale for the seminarian fund. The generosity and love of my parish is something that humbles me and inspires me in my discernment. Thank you all!
Five more weeks. Where did the time go? I have only four more weeks of classes and a week of exams and then the academic year will be finished! This has been a great year for me and I thank you all for your prayers and support. I have recently been accepted for theological studies and will begin the graduate program this fall. I’m super excited! After graduation at the end of April I will be staying down here for Preaching Boot Camp (an amusing title) which is a three-week program that is designed to prepare one for public speaking and builds communication skills. After that I will be spending the rest of my summer in Omaha Nebraska participating in a program called the Institute for Priestly Formation which is a program designed to prepare seminarians for graduate level formation and theological studies. I’ve heard amazing things about it and am looking forward to it. I’ve been thinking a lot about home lately and cannot wait to be back for Easter. It will be good to see you all. Please continue to pray for me and know you are in my prayers.
God bless, Ben
