U.P. CATHOLIC SERVICE Appeal

Dear Parish Family Members,

During the past one and a half years our life sailed through fear, anxiety and hope. But by the Grace of God life goes on. The entire world continues to suffer physically and materially due to this deadly virus. We all wish we could get a relief from this odd situation. Though we have enjoyed a little freedom for some time, it seems that due to recurrence of another variant of COVID we are at the verge of losing our freedom. We as the Community survived without much injury, financially and physically. Thank God for that blessing!

As usual this year’s UPCSA will be kicked off soon. This year’s theme is “Call to Mission, by sharing your time, talent and treasure.” No doubt, this is a little additional financial burden on many of you who live with the fixed income. But at the same time our Diocese continues to survive only with the generous support of the Catholics. So Bishop John Doerfler appeals to all Catholics in U.P. to be generous and help him to meet this year’s UPCSA target. Last year our parish UPCSA goal amount was $ 40,139 and we could not reach our goal and we were short of $ 2,324. But we had to pay the balance from our general fund which is also not in excellent shape. On the other hand, apparently we have a little good news. For this year our goal is 37, 968 which is less than last year. You may wonder why it is less this year. The reason is that the UPCSA office takes the last three years’ annual income of the parish and takes its average and from there they calculate our goal. It is sure that our average income of last three years was a little less. In the long run the decrease in the annual income is not a good sign for any parish. I am very pleased that last year many of you have contributed the maximum remaining in your limitations. This is my earnest appeal to all of you, please be generous and do your best so that this year we can achieve our goal on time. When you give for a good cause you are giving to the Lord and he will repay you ten times.

“God loves a cheerful giver”- 2 Cor. 9:7.

God Bless you!

With Regards and Love
